A visit to see Santa

C's been asking lots of questions about Santa Claus. Out of the blue she'll ask...Is Santa really real? We been able to avoid giving her a definite answer. I'm not into lying to my child, so I usually say...You'll have to ask daddy. She's very perceptive, so I don't think it'll be that much longer before she figures out he's not real.

Today daddy took her to see Santa at the mall. She's been begging to go see him ever since she saw the display set up there. When she came home form the visit, she burst through the door all excited to tell me that there wasn't a lineup to see Santa, and that he gave her a candy cane and daddy let her eat it. She then said..."Guess What!!!" I was prepared to hear her tell me that she knew that the man in red at the mall wasn't really Santa when she blurted out..."I'm getting an iPod for Christmas!"

I remember the moment I knew for sure he wasn't real, I was about her age. I was at the mall on his lap and i pulled his beard off. My parents never told us he was real, he was always the man in the dress up suit - for fun - at the mall but I put it all together at 5.

My kids go and get their picture with Santa each year, it's kinda become a tradition but they all know that he is simply a man in a suit (and that they are not to tell kids he isn't real because we don't want to ruin their family tradition), although I don't think Liam believes me...

Today G didn't stop about santa. She keeps saying that she wants to go to the santa breakfast at the community centre because she was sure that santa would recognize her from the summer...she went to Santa's Village...

Well, depending on what sort of bulk buying Mike K. can do this season, C. may not be far from the mark. Isn't the expression three is a charm true?
